Jadon Sancho reveals ironic Man United advice he received from Cristiano Ronaldo
Jadon Sancho has spoken about what he learned from Cristiano Ronaldo when the pair were at Manchester United together.
Sancho, 23, moved on loan to Borussia Dortmund earlier this month following being exiled from the United first-team in September.
The young winger posted a statement on social media after Erik ten Hag said that he was not involved against Arsenal due to his training performance. Sancho told his followers not to believe everything they read whilst adding that he was being made a ‘scapegoat’.
Following an extended saga, which saw the 23-year-old spend time training away from the first team, Sancho has been sent back to Dortmund on loan to restart his career where he originally found his feet in the professional game.
In his first two appearances for the German club since re-sigining, Sancho has an assist and also won a penalty which was slotted home.
When speaking in an interview to Dortmund’s YouTube channel, Sancho was asked about what he learned from Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford and the winger provided an ironic answer considering the circumstances earlier in the season.
“Definitely, he’s a great professional and one of my role models growing up as well,” started Sancho when asked about Ronaldo and whether he learned from him.
“I just love his mentality, and I think every young player that was there when he was there definitely learned to be at the top. You have to train like you’re playing.
“Every day the best, even in the gym working, even the recovery and sleep is important. Seeing him and playing with him was a dream come true, I’m thankful for him and everything he taught me.”
Of course, Sancho was initially dropped from the United squad in that game against Arsenal for his performance in training – something he disagreed with at the time and continued to double down on during this latest interview.
The player’s timekeeping has also been something widely reported on over the last year.
Sancho appears to be taking little notice of the noise outside and is aiming to reignite his career following a difficult spell.
