Jadon Sancho absent from Man United squad vs Fulham after Premier League transfer ‘enquiry’
Jadon Sancho was left out of Erik ten Hag’s squad to face Fulham as Manchester United returned to Premier League action.
Sancho, 24, spent the latter half of last season away from United following a clash with manager Erik ten Hag, who had left him out of the squad for a match against Arsenal at the start of the campaign.
Ten Hag attributed Sancho’s exclusion last August to poor training performances, a claim that Sancho publicly contested.
This dispute led to his immediate removal from the squad in September and resulted in a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund in January.
Although a summer sale was anticipated, Sancho and Ten Hag had an extended conversation during pre-season to resolve their differences.
The winger rejoined the United squad, participated in the pre-season tour and was brought off the bench in the Community Shield last weekend.
However, reports indicate that the English winger remains available for transfer if any club meets United’s £40 million valuation. The latest rumours have stated that Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing the player.
Christopher Michel has explained that The Blues are willing to offer a transfer fee and two academy players for the winger or sign him on loan with an obligation to buy, with them covering his entire wages.
Now, the 24-year-old was left out of United’s matchday squad to face Fulham in their opening Premier League game, which they won 1-0.
Antony, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho were preferred on the bench. The latter two combined for the decisive goal.
However, the United boss explained that Sancho had an ear infection in the week and that was the reason he was not 100% fit to face Fulham.
“I can only put 20 players. Jadon had an ear infection in the week. He was not 100%. He could have played but I had to make choices.”
