RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg is eager for the Bundesliga side to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga in the upcoming transfer window.

Elanga, 21, struggled for game time under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford last term, starting only five Premier League games across the campaign.

There were rumours of the winger being on the list of many clubs in January but Ten Hag wanted the academy graduate to remain at the club, but failed to give him more than 27 minutes of football after the mid-season window closed.

That led to the Swedish international admitting a lack of game-time at United has been “frustrating” and also had encouraged reports to suggest he will exit the club this summer.

RB Leipzig have been revealed as one club who could attempt to sign the winger as Forsberg, who’s played alongside Elanga at international level, admitted to speaking with his club about the United player.

“I will sit down with the president, with Oliver, here soon and see what we should do,” he told Fotboll Skanalen.

“We’ll see. Anthony would have been a good fit with us. A young player who wants to get better. We’ll see. It can happen.

“I have spoken to Anthony. But it stays between us. I know Anthony quite well, so it’s quite normal if it were to come up.

“But he is a young and talented player who fits in with us. We have been good at developing young and talented players.”
