Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has admitted to ‘tapping up’ England teammates during international duty this week.

Shaw, 27, is in familiar territory with the Three Lions, who play at Old Trafford against North Macedonia on Monday and are training at Carrington in the build up.

The United left-back recently stated that he is sure The Reds will make ‘big’ signings in the summer transfer window.

His latest Instagram story included separate images alongside West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane – both who are rumoured to leave their club’s this summer – with the caption: “Carrington tour”.

“Yes, I was half-joking,” Shaw admitted when asked about the post. “But it is a bit of both.”

“I know they are both world-class players and I don’t know what is going on at their clubs but if it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat.”

United are looking for upgrades in both the midfield and striker positions and there’s not many better than Rice and Kane. Shaw added that whilst he’s attempting to woo his national teammates, it is in the clubs hands to decide on the transfer policy.

“I would love a few of them to join United – I’m not going to lie,” the left-back continued. “I am speaking to them, telling them how good Manchester is because I know their qualities.

“I know they are world class players and they would be a massive help to us but I can only say so much. It is up to the club and whatever they decide so we have to go from there.”

One England international, who is not currently with the squad, is looking the likeliest to move to Old Trafford. Chelsea have failed to negotiate a new deal for midfielder Mason Mount and his future seems to be at United.

The latest reports from Jacob Steinberg states that United believe they can secure that signing for £50 million.
