Manchester United could still sign Harry Kane this summer, despite Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy providing an obstacle.

Kane, 29, has just completed one of his best campaigns personally, scoring 30 goals in the Premier League.

However, the England all-time record goalscorer was part of a Spurs side that missed out on European spots for the first time since 2005.

He continues to be without a trophy in his career and is well into his prime years. A move to a club like United makes sense with where Erik ten Hag is taking the side.

Already having won the Carabao Cup this term, United have the chance to complete a domestic cup double as they face Manchester City in the FA Cup Final this weekend.

Though, despite United’s well-known interest in the Spurs forward, recent reports have said that difficulties will come in the form of Daniel Levy and the likelihood is that Kane will spend another season in north London.

This was followed up by a report from Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail on Wednesday evening, who said that the early indications are that Levy will refuse to sell his star striker to a Premier League side this summer.

However, that report went onto mention the fact that Ten Hag’s side are not giving up hope of that stance softening.

However, Levy is known to be a hard-hitting negotiator and has previous experience in keeping Kane at the club when a Manchester side comes knocking. Two summers ago it was Pep Guardiola who wanted the England captain but was unsuccessful in his pursuit.

That year, Kane notoriously appeared on Gary Neville’s YouTube show ‘The Overlap’ as he admitted to being open to a move away. That time though, he had less bargaining power and Levy’s resolve proved strong.

Now, however, Kane arguably has the ball in his court. By the time the transfer window opens, he will be in the final year of his contract.

The aforementioned report also mentioned that Kane is open to joining United, but that it remains to be seen whether he is willing to agitate for a move, like he tried for in 2021.

It seems likely that this is the only way for United to find a positive solution in this transfer saga, otherwise, they will have to turn their attention to striker targets elsewhere.

Meanwhile, United have also been progressing in a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

The 24-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms with The Reds and finalising an agreement with Chelsea for a fee is likely to be coming soon. United players are under the impression that Mount will be their teammate next season.
