Louis Saha has spoken about the leadership within the Manchester United dressing room as Erik ten Hag’s side experience a difficult period.

The Reds have failed to build on their success from last season and, instead, look to be heading backwards under Ten Hag.

Chances of qualification to the Champions League knock-out stages appear slim going into the final group game against Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, whilst United sit just five points away from the Premier League’s top four, performances across the season so far have been worrying.

This has led to major scrutiny against the players and manager in recent weeks from the fanbase and media outlets. The club have banned four outlets, including the Manchester Evening News, from Ten Hag’s press conferences.

United need their leaders to stand out in the current situation. Former United striker Louis Saha does not believe that those players, more importantly, must show personality on the pitch.

One player who he believes displays that attribute is Alejandro Garnacho, as the ex-United man believes that supporters recognise these things that not all players are offering.

“I see a lot of personality in Alejandro Garnacho,” he told BetFred. “When he makes an error, he’s really upset, and that’s something I love to see.

“I don’t care about the mistakes, I just want to see a player with drive that shows emotion. Fans recognise the drive of players, and there are a number of individuals in the squad that look unhappy, and that needs changing.

“Those players playing for Manchester United week in, week out have the quality. I have no doubts about that whatsoever. Many of them just need to show personality and courage.”
