How Barcelona feel about returning Marcus Rashford to Man Utd after Rúben Amorim sacking

Barcelona have revealed how they feel about Marcus Rashford following Manchester United’s sacking of Ruben Amorim.

Marcus Rashford has been looking to part ways with his boyhood club, Manchester United, since Ruben Amorim was brought in as the side’s manager at the end of 2024.

Rashford ventured out on loan to fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa for six months, before then taking his talents abroad to join FC Barcelona for the season.

La Blaugrana have an option to make the Englishman’s move permanent at the end of next season, although their struggling financial situation has led to concerns as to whether this deal would be optimal for the club.

Following the recent dismissal of Amorim as United head coach, Barcelona’s latest thoughts on Rashford have been revealed, as they decide whether to keep him beyond the current season.

Uncertainty in Barcelona over Rashford

According to a report from AS, Hansi Flick’s side are not yet convinced about triggering the buy option in Rashford’s deal.

This option to buy is set at around £26 million, but despite the reasonable fee, they are still uncertain, mainly due to Rashford’s off-the-ball efforts when pressing high up the pitch.

However, the report states that the club have noticed a clear improvement in recent weeks, so perhaps Flick may have a change of heart if Rashford can continue his greater efforts.

With seven goals and eight assists across all competitions, Rashford is making a decent case for himself, although it will be interesting to see what decision La Blaugrana make.

Rashford return on the cards?

With Barcelona seemingly delaying any final decision, it remains a possibility that the 28-year-old returns to Old Trafford in the summer.

Now that Amorim has departed from the Reds, the picture at United has changed entirely, and a new manager may try to reintegrate Rashford into the side if he is to return.

It is being rumoured that Ole Gunnar Solskjær is keen on returning to the club as a caretaker manager, and if he were to impress, he could potentially return permanently.

Given that Rashford’s most successful stint for the Reds was under the management of Solskjær, this could even sway the Englishman to stay put in Manchester if his former coach were to be rehired.
