“He hopes to join Man Utd…” – Close friend reveals “powerful” star wants to snub Premier League rivals for Old Trafford move

A close friend of a player linked with Manchester United has revealed that the player would strongly prefer joining the Red Devils this summer, despite attracting interest from other clubs.

Manchester United suffered one of the poorest Premier League campaigns in their history last season, which has resulted in urgent action being taken to try and repair the damage.

After finishing 15th in the league, whilst simultaneously falling short in all other competitions, a squad overhaul appears necessary for Ruben Amorim’s side.

This renovation got off to a flying start with the acquisition of Matheus Cunha, but has since come to a halt due to negotiations for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo taking a tediously long amount of time.

Despite their main focus being to rejuvenate the attack, reinforcement is needed all over the pitch. Regarding a new midfielder, the close friend of Wilfred Ndidi has came out to discuss United’s potential interest.

Ndidi prefers United despite Everton interest

Africa Foot, via Sportwitness, reported that former Nigeria international, Julius Aghahowa, has said that his close friend Ndidi would like a move to United this summer.

Aghehowa said: “While Everton and Al-Ahli’s interest is obvious, Ndidi hopes to join Manchester United. He wants to take a step up by signing for a big club like Manchester United.

“It would be an excellent move for someone I consider one of the best African central midfielders of recent years. He’s powerful, capable of pressing, winning back balls, and creating space with his long diagonal runs.

“Wilfred is the player the Red Devils need in midfield. He’s surprisingly generous and capable of repeating efforts and covering a lot of space. He would be a considerable asset to the Manchester club if the transfer were to go through.”

Is Ndidi to United a possibility?

Having been recently relegated with Leicester City, the 28-year-old midfielder seems to be attracting interest for a summer move.

The Nigerian powerhouse has a reported £9 million release clause in his contract, and Africa Foot also states that United, Everton, Real Betis, Fenerbahçe and Al-Ahli are all in the mix.

This is most likely just a close friend trying to advantageously drum up interest in Ndidi off the back of recent reports, but it will be interesting to see if the story develops at all in the coming weeks.
