Gary Neville has namedropped Luke Shaw as the most in-form Manchester United player alongside Marcus Rashford following the 3-0 win against Leicester City.

Rashford, 25, scored twice against The Foxes to increase his goal tally to 24 for the season so far. He’s now scored more than Cristiano Ronaldo did last season for The Reds.

Sixteen of those 24 have come since he returned from Qatar with England, where he left the World Cup as the joint-top goalscorer for Gareth Southgate’s men, despite starting just once.

Neville has detailed the impressiveness of Rashford’s form, but also put Luke Shaw alongside him as one of the most in-form players for The Reds.

“His form since the World Cup [is great], you’re absolutely right,” the former United captain said on his podcast with Sky Sports. “But I also want to put Luke Shaw in that category, he’s come back from the World Cup in brilliant form.

“He’s absolutely outstanding, but he’s not scoring goals and as a full-back you just don’t get the credit, I’m sorry. But I have to keep mentioning full-backs.”

The defender does have one goal and an assist since returning from the winter tournament, but as Neville explained, his contributions are ones that do not catch the headlines.

Shaw has been one of United’s best players this season and is consistent in his attacking and defensive responsibilities.

However, even Neville, who would’ve wanted to continue praising his fellow full-back, struggled to not further praise Rashford, who has been in scintillating form.

The ex-right-back compared the way he is attacking the opposition backline to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who isn’t bad company to be named alongside.

“But Marcus Rashford has been sensational,” Neville continued. “Left, centre, it doesn’t matter where he plays. He looks like he’s got defenders right where he wants them.

“He’s got those pictures in his mind when he gets into the final third of exactly what he’s going to do. I always thought Thierry Henry was the very best at that, you knew when he went into that left channel, you just knew.

“I think Salah does it from the right, where he cuts in and bends it into that far corner. Thierry Henry was brilliant at working that left channel, whether it be wide or in the inside position. I had to contend with it at times.

“He’s in sensational form at this moment Marcus Rashford, they can’t do without him at this moment and that’s why he plays nearly every match.”
