Gary Neville has been torn into following his latest claims surrounding Manchester United after Erik ten Hag’s 3-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United‘s latest Premier League defeat, a 3-0 loss against rivals Tottenham Hotspur, has been blasted by fans and the media alike after it left the club 13th in the league table.

Since the loss, many have been calling for the sacking of manager Erik ten Hag, with former United player Gary Neville highlighting the first-half performance as “absolutely disgusting” from the players.

“For Manchester United…the Manchester United fans boo the referee going off in that corner, but that’s only half the story,” he said on Sky Sports at full time.

“The story today is that in that first half…you can’t say ‘from nowhere’, because Manchester United have been inconsistent all season, but they have chosen to put in the very worst performance, their very worst possible showing.

“It was an absolutely disgusting performance in that first half, in effort, quality, everything you want in a football team. There are going to be a lot of questions to answer for that group and the manager in the next week.”

However, in retaliation, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordon has ripped into Neville’s post-match comments, explaining that the former United captain was being “absurd” with his words.

“People get very critical that our agenda apparently in the studio is to constantly berate Ten Hag. I listen to the commentary from Neville, and the language that’s being used is absurd,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.

“It is not a disgusting performance; it is a poor performance. But when you’ve got Manchester United people, who are the first ones to get very prickly if anyone else says anything about Manchester United, going in full tilt on the nature of performance…

“It was a poor performance against a very good Tottenham side. It wasn’t disgusting. It wasn’t an abhorration. You know, it’s ridiculous.”
