One Manchester United star could be set to leave the club as Galatasaray are now said to be “confident” of securing the defender.
Manchester United were amongst the busiest clubs in the Premier League when it came to the transfer market this summer, with lots of action in and out of the club.
Bryan Mbeumo has already shown in class in a United shirt, while Benjamin Šeško has netted two goals in the last two games. Senne Lammens, who joined on Deadline Day, also impressed on his debut against Sunderland.
While signing new players was key this summer, selling Rúben Amorim’s “Bomb Squad” was also crucial. United managed to move on four out of the five outcasts, while also seeing the back of Rasmus Hojlund after Šeško’s transfer.
Without European football this season – and now the Carabao Cup as well – United were looking to slim down their squad, but a lack of playing time has already become an issue for some first-team players, as they now look for a move away from Old Trafford.
Malacia set for Galatasary move
Tyrell Malacia spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, playing a role in winning the Eredivisie, as the club finished just one point ahead of Ajax. He was named in the “Bomb Squad” when he returned, but failed to secure a move away from the club and has now rejoined training.
As per MEN, Galatasaray are now “confident” of securing Malacia’s signature when his contract expires at the end of this season. However, it is understood Malacia would be willing to move in January if the Turkish side are willing to pay United a small fee, as he “has made his mind up to leave” the club.
The report states that Malacia’s relationship with Amorim is “beyond repair”. The Dutch international was close to a move to Elche at the end of the transfer window, but the transfer broke down as the paperwork couldn’t be completed in time.
The 26-year-old is unlikely to play for United this season as the Red Devils only have the FA Cup and Premier League to compete for. Diego Leon will be ahead of Malacia in the pecking order and Patrick Dorgu is currently out of the side for Diogo Dalot.
Malacia could’ve been a success at United
When Malacia joined United for £15 million under Erik ten Hag, United fans were confused because Luke Shaw was considered to be one of the best left-backs in world football. However, Malacia immediately won fans over due to his raw and exciting style of play.
The Feyenoord defender played a key role in United’s Europa League run, but a knee injury derailed his Old Trafford career in 2023. Malacia was out injured for almost 18 months before playing for United’s under-21s after Ten Hag had been sacked.
When he returned to the side – against Bodo Glimt in the Europa League – it was evident that Malacia had lost a yard of pace and wouldn’t be able to hit the same levels for several months.
Now, United have already replaced Malacia, and he has been forced into another six months without playing football. His career has been ruined by one injury.
