Francisco Trincao price tag revealed as Man Utd place Ruben Amorim favourite on transfer shortlist

Manchester United are looking to improve Ruben Amorim’s squad in the summer transfer window and Sporting star Francisco Trincao is an option being considered.

Ruben Amorim has experienced difficulties at Manchester United so far and needs improved quality and depth in his squad ahead of next season.

Jason Wilcox and the recruitment team at Old Trafford are already looking at potential options to sign in the summer and one area that they are looking to strengthen is the right-sided no.10.

Reports have claimed that Amorim is planning to use Amad as a wingback going forward, which leaves space for a wide player to come into the team alongside the Ivorian.

It has been claimed that MailSport that Sporting star Francisco Trincao is a player on United’s shortlist as Amorim considers a potential reunion with the 25-year-old.

Trincao price tag revealed as United interested

Trincao initially joined Sporting on loan from Barcelona at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign and then signed permanently at the end of that season.

The skilful attacking player became a key part of Amorim’s team, making 131 appearances under the Portuguese manager and registering 56 goal involvements during that time.

With nine goals and 15 assists so far this season, Trincao is a player who already knows Amorim’s system inside-out and can also offer some offensive flair sometimes missing at Old Trafford.

In terms of a potential price tag ahead of the summer, The Mirror reports that Sporting value Trincao at £30 million and INEOS could meet that valuation in the summer.

That number seems quite modest considering the huge price tags lumped on some of the other players being targeted by United.

Amorim is a “pillar” of Trincao’s success

Now an important player at Sporting, it is hard to believe that Trincao had a difficult start to life at the Portuguese club.

But the ex-Wolves talent had only scored three goals and registered one assist in his first 21 games under Amorim in the 2022/23 campaign.

This led to some criticism but the now-United boss stuck with the player and that faith eventually paid off, with Trincao being important for the title-winning campaign the season afterwards.

“At a time when Francisco Trincao was being criticised, the coach never stopped believing in him. He always supported him,” Rui Santos, who worked with the player at Sporting, told Noticias Ao Minuto.

“In this case, Ruben Amorim was one of the pillars of Trincao’s success. In the past, many people had doubts and now everyone is certain.”
