Four key Manchester United figures will make Erik ten Hag decision
According to new reports, there will be four key Manchester United figures in any decision surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.
The Reds have had a mixed start to the new Premier League season, winning just two of their opening five fixtures.
Progression to the Carabao Cup fourth-round came through a thumping 7-0 win against League One outfit Barnsley but improvements are still necessary.
Erik ten Hag already knows that there will be major external noise should the team not improve in terms of results in the coming weeks.
There are important games against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the league, while they also face FC Twente and FC Porto in their opening Europa League clashes.
Whether or not a decision on the manager needs to be made in the coming months, reports have detailed who will be the ones making that call.
Four key Man Utd figures to decide Ten Hag’s future
According to Football Insider, the four key figures who will decide the Dutchman’s future are Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The report also claimed that they were the chief decision makers in the summer when the club decided to persist with Ten Hag. They remain confident that he is the right man for the job.
Berrada and Ashworth showed their public support to Ten Hag before the defeat to Liverpool.
“Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we’re fully backing him,” said Berrada.
Ashworth added: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Erik for the last eight weeks. I see my job is to support him in every way I possibly can.”
While the pair stated that they were not part of the decision-making process to extend Ten Hag’s deal, this was most likely said due to the fact that they were still on gardening leave at the point.
Wilcox has also reportedly been tasked with assessing the manager’s playstyle and how he works behind the scenes at Carrington.
Ten Hag’s team will face FC Twente in midweek in their next fixture.
