Forgotten Manchester United target is available for transfer, and it could be the perfect move
Manchester United could make a U-Turn in their transfer pursuit of a striker after a forgotten target became available for transfer this summer.
The Reds are looking to improve various areas of Erik ten Hag’s squad this summer, with a centre-forward being high up on that list.
Following Anthony Martial’s departure, Rasmus Højlund is currently the only recognised no.9 at the club, and he will need support going into next season.
Various strikers have been linked with the club but United also need to be careful about the fees involved as they are walking a financial tightrope at the moment.
According to Sky Germany, Serhou Guirassy has informed VfB Stuttgart that he wants to leave the Bundesliga club this summer.
It was added that Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Arsenal are in the race to sign the 28-year-old forward.
Guirassy has previously been heavily linked to an Old Trafford move, and United should consider the possibility of signing him this summer.
Due to his release clause, the striker is available for a cut-price of £15 million. He would also offer more experience than other options, such as Joshua Zirkzee or Jonathan David.
At 28, he is in his prime, and that could work well with the development of Rasmus Højlund, who recently turned 21.
Guirassy scored 28 goals in as many Bundesliga games last term and could be the best option for United to sign as a striker, leaving plenty of funds for INEOS to focus on strengthening elsewhere in the squad.
