Fabrizio Romano reveals Moise Kean price tag as Manchester United register interest, 15-day window emerges

Manchester United have added Moise Kean to their four-man striker shortlist as his price tag is revealed.

Manchester United are in need of a number of attacking reinforcements during this summer transfer window. The club’s biggest problem this season has been scoring goals, and Rúben Amorim is looking to rectify this for the next season.

The club look likely to sign Matheus Cunha from Premier League side Wolves to fill the role of Antony and Marcus Rashford, who both look like they will leave the club. Cunha has impressed this season and has increased his goal involvement every season that he’s been at the club.

In addition to Cunha, the club is looking to sign another striker alongside him. This season has been a disappointing one for both Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who, despite impressing in moments, have both been inconsistent this season.

New reports from France have indicated that Fiorentina’s Moise Kean has now been added to United’s transfer shortlist.

United’s interest in Kean

Footmercato have reported that Kean has been added to United’s striker shortlist. The report indicates that Fiorentina are preparing for Kean’s departure and have been working on a striker shortlist of their own.

Kean has impressed for Fiorentina this season and is currently the second-highest scorer in Serie A. In all competitions, he has scored 18 goals and has three assists. This is a massive improvement on his previous season at Juventus, where he failed to get a club goal involvement all season.

The Footmercato report states this has led to several clubs, including Bayern Munich, becoming interested in the Italian.

United’s interest has come amid transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Kean has a release clause of £42.4 million. However, the release clause is only active between July 1st and 15th.

This would make Kean one of the cheaper striking options that United could approach, but they will need to act quickly to secure his signature during this short release clause window.

How Kean compares to other targets

Denis has said that Kean is the fourth name to be added to United’s striker shortlist, the other three players are Victor Gyökeres, Liam Delap and Victor Osimen. Kean has had a good season but the other players on the shortlist have also impressed.

Delap is the only other player on the striker shortlist who has Premier League experience, having played for Ipswich this season.

With 14 goals in 34 matches, he has not had as successful a season as the other three strikers, but he is playing in a far worse league. At 22 years old, he could still develop into a great player. His profile is similar to that of Hojlund, so United may favour Kean, the more seasoned player.

As impressive as Kean’s season has been, no striker in Europe has had a more fruitful season than Gyokeres. The Swedish striker has 55 goals in all competitions but is playing in the Portuguese league, which is a less competitive league than Serie A.

Additionally, Gyokeres has a release clause of £84 million, meaning that, unless United can negotiate a lower price, he will cost double Kean.

Oshimen has been on United’s radar for several years now, and after a season on loan at Galatasaray, he now looks likely to make a permanent move away from Napoli.

The Nigerian international has impressed for several years, and if United were to go for him, they’d likely end up in a bidding war with other clubs. Although Kean has never demonstrated Oshimen’s consistency, he will be the significantly cheaper option, which may appeal to a cash-strapped United.

If United believe that Kean can become more consistent and emulate his Fiorentina form when back in the Premier League, then they may view him as a more cost-effective option than Gyokeres and Oshimen, while being more proven than Delap.
