Fabrizio Romano reveals Diego León to Manchester United latest development, one thing needed for ‘here we go’
Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest details on Manchester United’s pursuit of Paraguayan wonderkid Diego León.
Diego León, a 17-year-old left-back currently playing for Cerro Porteño in Paraguay, has already drawn attention from several European clubs.
Manchester United has emerged as a leading contender for the young defender, with reports suggesting his representatives have engaged in discussions with the Old Trafford club.
A potential transfer, valued at an initial £3.1 million, has been proposed, with United viewing León as a future prospect for the left wing-back role under Rúben Amorim.
However, the highly regarded teenager, who turns 18 in April, would not be eligible to join United until next summer.
Various reports have claimed that technical director Jason Wilcox is leading negotiations following the departure of Dan Ashworth as sporting director last weekend.
León made 19 appearances for Cerro Porteño last term, scoring twice from his left-back position.
Fabrizio Romano reveals Diego León latest development
This is a transfer that is quickly moving forward and Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest developments on a deal.
The transfer expert has claimed that an agreement is getting ‘really, really’ close between Cerro Porteño and United.
He further explained that the final hurdle of the deal is finding a compromise on the add-ons for the player – once that is agreed, then we can expect the ‘Here We Go!’ from the journalist.
“Now, Man United are really in advanced stages for Diego León. He will be able to join Manchester United in the summer of 2025,” Romano said in his latest YouTube video.
“Jason Wilcox is taking care of this negotiation and the deal is really, really advanced. Almost there.
“It is just about the bonuses and then the ‘Here We Go!’ is expected soon for Diego León to join Man Utd.”
