Fabrizio Romano claims Man United are ‘willing to attack’ deal after promising report
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United are ‘willing to attack’ one potential transfer following a promising report this week.
The Reds are looking to make additions to Erik ten Hag’s squad in the coming weeks ahead of their pre-season tour later this month.
In particular, the INEOS-led regime are targeting defensive recruitments after the recent departure of Raphaël Varane.
Matthijs de Ligt is closing in on a deal from Bayern Munich, with the two clubs currently negotiating a fee. Reports have claimed that personal terms are not an issue, with the defender keen on joining United.
However, Fabrizio Romano has provided a reminder that United are still prepared to ‘attack’ the deal for Jarrad Branthwaite if Everton displays a willingness to negotiate on their price tag for the 21-year-old.
“Remember – another name on United’s list, and the only player they have bid for so far, is Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite,” he told his Daily Briefing.
“They’ve had a £35m plus add-ons bid rejected, but for sure, their appreciation remains, and it depends on Everton because they still want £65-70m for the player.
“That’s too expensive for United, but if the price changes, they are ready to attack the situation.”
Whilst there have been no signs that the Toffees will lower their asking price, a promising report from MailSport has emerged.
It was stated that United are weighing up an improved offer for the defender, but will not match the £70 million asking price.
More importantly, however, the article explained that Branthwaite has grown increasingly agitated over the lack of movement in negotiations between the two clubs.
The defender has agreed to personal terms with United and clearly wants the move. Communicating his displeasure to Everton could be United’s best chance of negotiating a lower fee.
