Fabrizio Romano confirms “combative” star will be ‘offered’ to Manchester United before deadline day, INEOS’ response is clear

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a ‘combative’ star will be offered to Manchester United before the transfer deadline this summer.

Manchester United have made three major signings so far this summer, with Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all joining the club.

The Reds struggled in terms of goalscoring last term and these three additions should help Ruben Amorim solve that problem going forward.

But there are plenty more issues within the squad and there is hope that United can bring in one or two more signings before the window slam shut.

In particular, the midfield is an area which the club want to improve. Fans are also hoping that a goalkeeper is signed but that seems less likely.

United’s preferred option for the midfield was Carlos Baleba of Brighton but that is not a deal that will be able to be completed this summer.

It is reported that the Reds want to revisit a potential deal for the Cameroon international next summer but they do need to strengthen that position this summer still.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Reds will be ‘offered’ the chance to sign Adrien Rabiot before the deadline although it is unclear whether they will pursue a deal.

“Keep an eye on Adrien Rabiot,” the Italian journalist said. “Marseille want around 15 to 20 million euros to let him leave.

“Many of those close to Rabiot’s camp are proposing the opportunity to offer him to clubs, for example, to Manchester United.

“At the moment, I’m not hearing anything concrete on Manchester United in negotiations with Rabiot, he will be offered to Manchester United and many other clubs.”

United have been regularly linked with the ‘combative’ midfielder over the years but a deal never materialised in the past.

INEOS’ stance on Rabiot is clear

One of the main reasons a deal for Rabiot never occurred in the past was due to the influence of his mother, who is also his agent, and demands.

While the transfer fee is not significant, it is likely that he will want major wages and INEOS are trying to improve their structure.

The new regime at Old Trafford also haven’t signed a player older than 26 since their arrival, and Rabiot is 30 years old now.

While there is a need to sign a midfielder, this seems like this will end the same as United’s previous encounters with Rabiot and his team.
