Fabrizio Romano confirms Carlos Belaba’s Manchester United stance as Benjamin Šeško agreement reached

Manchester United have all but secured a third attacking signing after an agreement in principle was reached on the signing of Benjamin Šeško.

Manchester United are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have joined, with Benjamin Šeško close to signing after successful talks with RB Leipzig.

With 23 days left in the window, Ruben Amorim’s next priority is a new midfielder. It won’t be easy, but United are actively working to get it done.

Just last week, reports had suggested that United were keeping tabs on Barcelona’s Fermí López, heavily suggesting that once the striker situation was sorted, midfielder was the next position to bolster.

Now on the eve of finalising a deal for the Slovenian, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba has been the latest name linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Baleba open to United summer transfer

According to Fabrizio Romano, Carlos Baleba is open to a move to United, but the most significant obstacle remains Brighton. The South Coast club sees the transfer as very complicated, although Baleba is Amorim’s top target to strengthen the midfield.

United have made initial inquiries to understand the situation, but Brighton’s stance is firm. They consider Baleba a key part of their plans for the upcoming season and are not looking to sell.

Reports suggest Brighton could demand over £100 million for the midfielder, making the deal even more difficult. Their message to potential suitors is clear: only an extraordinary offer would change their position.

With just over three weeks remaining in the transfer window, time is running out. Despite the challenge, United are keen to try and push for a deal. What happens next will depend mainly on Brighton’s willingness even to consider negotiations.

United targeting the right profile of player

At the start of the summer, Amorim made it clear he wanted a high-energy midfielder, and Baleba fits that profile well, offering more than just energy.

United’s pre-season has been positive, but the midfield still appears to be a potential weak spot heading into the new season.

A signing like Baleba could help address that, providing the team with more balance and strength in the midfield.

Even if the deal doesn’t happen, United are clearly targeting the right kind of player for what they need.
