Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher received a three-game touchline ban following his X-rated rant towards Premier League fourth official Gavin Ward.

During Manchester United’s encounter against Brentford last month, the Reds conceded a goal from a corner on the turn of half-time.

Those on the United bench, including Darren Fletcher, were aggrieved after Matthijs de Ligt was forced to leave the field of play moments before the set-piece due to heavy bleeding on his head.

Fletcher, formally the club’s technical director and now a coach focused on linking the Academy and first-team, launched a furious rant at the fourth official Gavin Ward and referee Samuel Barrott during the half-time interval.

The Scotsman has since received a three-match ban and fined £7,500 for the offence.

The Independent Regulatory Commission have since viewed CCTV footage of the incident and written reasons for Fletcher’s punishment have been shared.

The commission claimed the footage shows “the Fourth Official making his way through the tunnel area.

“Mr Fletcher becomes agitated and starts to remonstrate with the Fourth Official, gesturing with his hands, shouting, and attempting to get closer to the Fourth Official in a confrontational manner.

“He is then held back and pushed away by a Manchester United colleague. There are a number of players and technical staff in the area who watch as the remonstration occurs.”

Ward, the Premier League’s fourth official on the day, has detailed what Fletcher said to him in the tunnel during the altercation.

He revealed that Fletcher approached in an ‘extremely aggressive manner’ and then shouted ‘you are all f****** s***, that is a f****** joke, every f****** week’.

Referee Barrott added that the United coach repeatedly called him a ‘f****** joke and a disgrace’. Fletcher has admitted these charges but insists that he tried to keep a ‘respectful distance’ from the officials.

It seems like the PGMOL have their hands full with issues currently. United are yet to receive an apology from the refereeing body despite Howard Webb admitting that Michael Oliver was obssessed with giving a penalty against them in the loss against West Ham.

Meanwhile, the man who gave that spot-kick on the pitch, David Coote, has been suspended from all activities after multiple clips emerged of a man alleged to be Coote snorting white powder and calling former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a ‘c**t’.
