Erik ten Hag is taking things game-by-game at Manchester United following their Carabao Cup win, with an FA Cup fixture against West Ham on the horizon.

Victory at Wembley on Sunday provided United with their first piece of silverware for over five years.

Ten Hag’s men have taken large strides since the beginning of the season and there are now suggestions that they could go onto win another trophy before the end of the campaign.

The FA Cup could be the perfect opportunity for that, with several of the big hitters being knocked out already. Manchester City seem like the only difficult competition left for The Reds.

However, Ten Hag has been successful at Old Trafford so far because of his strict mentality and not allowing his team to get ahead of themselves.

He’s continued in that motion since the trophy win on the weekend. United were back in training on Monday morning and he refuted the idea that United can look ahead to the latter rounds of the FA Cup.

When asked if The Reds are favourites in the competition, Ten Hag simply replied: “Game by game.”

United are still fighting on three different fronts and will not want to get distracted in any sense.

Talk of a potential quadruple has also surfaced after the ended trophy drought, although the manager expectedly played down the possibility of that triumph.

“That is too far ahead,” he continued. “We have to focus on the next game. We are now talking about the Premier League, but I didn’t hear the word West Ham. This is the press conference for West Ham, so it is only about that. That is all we have to talk about.”

United being able to keep their feet firmly on the ground will be vital for them if they are to end the season strongly and it seems that Ten Hag is not going to allow his players to start slipping.
