Erik ten Hag’s “final level” update on Jadon Sancho’s availability

Erik ten Hag has addressed the topic of Jadon Sancho in relation to his re-introduction into the matchday squad after he returned to first team training on Tuesday.

Jadon Sancho has not played for Manchester United since Erik ten Hag‘s side drew 1-1 away to Chelsea, where is was substituted in the 53rd minute.

Over the World Cup break, Sancho embarked on a one-month rehabilitation course in the Netherlands as instructed by Erik ten Hag, where he worked with trainers and a psychologist to designed to help him rediscover his world class abilities.

In the last few weeks, Sancho has returned back to Carrington, but was still completing his own individual training programme, however was recently spotted back in training with the rest of the first team.

Speaking to the press in his post-match press conference after United’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag was questioned on if Jadon Sancho will be involved during United’s Sunday trip to Arsenal.

“I can’t answer that question,” he replied. “He’s making the next step, yesterday (Tuesday) was the first time he was in team training.”

Erik ten Hag did confirm, however, that Jadon Sancho is on the “final level” of his training and rehabilitation before joining back into the rest of the squad.

“Team training is the final (level of) training before a game, so we will extend that in the coming days, the coming week, and then go step by step,” he said.

Manchester United will be without Casemiro for the fixture in North London as he has been served a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards.
