One Erik ten Hag target is ‘trying to force a transfer’ amid links to Manchester United, with Dan Ashworth set to determine whether to make a deal happen.

The Reds have made their first summer signing after confirming the addition of 23-year-old Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Strengthening the backline is now the number one priority, with Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro strongly linked to the club.

However, the club is also expected to make a midfield addition, as the futures of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay are uncertain.

Sofyan Amrabat left the club last month after his loan spell expired. He joined from Fiorentina last summer and United have an option to buy the Moroccon for £21 million.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 28-year-old midfielder is “trying to force through a transfer” this summer.

It was explained that he is not training with Fiorentina as he eyes a permanent exit from the Italian club, with United labelled as his “dream” move by various other reports.

Despite his eagerness to extend his stay at Old Trafford, Amrabat would also be open to joining another Premier League club.

Finally, the report added that Erik ten Hag has been due to discuss the possibility of buying Amrabat with the club’s sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.

Amrabat made 30 appearances for United last season and started in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
