Erik ten Hag will need to decide on who will replace Harry Maguire at Manchester United in the coming days ahead of the Premier League season.

Harry Maguire will likely be leaving Manchester United this summer as the club have accepted a £30 million bid from West Ham for the former captain’s services.

Erik ten Hag recently stripped Maguire of his captaincy duties in the squad in favour of Bruno Fernandes, with the English centre-half having lost his place in the team.

Maguire is said to be keen on the move to the Hammers, however, personal terms are yet to be agreed, as he would need to take a substantial pay cut in order to join the club.

With Maguire heading through the door, Ten Hag must now make a new decision – who will replace the No. 5 in the squad?

According to Fabrizio Romano, this choice comes down to two players: Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, and Jean-Clair Todibo from French club Nice.

Talks have already taken place with Tobido, and Pavard is keen on the move – Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba is said to be the “backup option” at this moment in time.

Romano explains that in light of Maguire moving out of Old Trafford, Ten Hag will make his choice on who the club signs “soon”.
