Louis Saha tells Man United they’ve made signing of the summer who will ‘shut down’ criticism

Louis Saha has backed Manchester United’s new signing Andre Onana to ‘shut down’ critics as he names the goalkeeper as the signing of the summer for Premier League clubs.
Onana, 27, joined from Inter Milan last month to replace the departed David de Gea, who left Old Trafford at the expiry of his contract after 12 years with the club.
The former Ajax goalkeeper was the exact man that Erik ten Hag wanted – the pair worked together for five years in Amsterdam and he offers the ball-playing abilities that De Gea lacked.
Whilst there has already been a lot of examination of the goalkeeper, he’s fully prepared for the onslaught that United’s no.1 – or in this case, no.24 – will undoubtedly get. “I’m the big man at the back so I take all the criticism,” he has stated.
However, former United striker Louis Saha has an overwhelmingly positive view of the shot-stopper.
Asked who has been the signing of the season in the Premier League this summer, Saha replied: “I really like the signing of André Onana, so I would say that’s been the best transfer for me.
“I’m really excited to see how he’s going to shut down all the potential criticism that comes his way. I love players that are always looking forward, so I’m very excited by this addition for Manchester United.”
Saha, who also spent time at Everton, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, added that Chelsea’s signing of Christopher Nkunku will be a ‘big’ addition for The Blues, but does not believe he answers all their problems.
In recent days, however, it has been revealed that the new signing will miss the opening months of the season at Stamford Bridge after suffering a knee injury in pre-season.
United were also unfortunate with injuries during their time in the United States. Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo will both miss the start of the Premier League campaign.
New signing Rasmus Hojlund has also arrived with a minor back injury but will miss out on the opening games of the season as United are keen for him to reach full fitness.
