Lisandro Martínez was rather devastatingly substituted as Manchester United defeated West Ham 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.

Goals from Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho saw Manchester United defeat West Ham in a thrilling 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Despite the positives from the game, Lisandro Martínez had to be forced off the field due to an apparent problem with his knee, much to the dismay of fans.

Martínez has had a number of long-term injury problems since April 2023, where he had to undergo two surgeries on his right foot in the last 10 months, and has missed 34 games so far in his career at Old Trafford.

After the game, Erik ten Hag provided the latest news on the player.

“It seems bad, we have to wait and make the right diagnosis,” Ten Hag said after the game. “At this moment, we are very sad.

“Hopefully, it is not too bad, but we can only pray. It looks like he has to sit some games out injured again.”

He continued: “It doesn’t look good. He is very sad, and we all feel for him. It’s a personal disaster.”

It is likely that United will have to wait for 24-48 hours before a proper assessment of Martínez’s injury can be made, with the player no doubt needing to undergo extensive scans.
