Erik ten Hag provides one Manchester United lineup guarantee vs Barnsley
Erik ten Hag has provided one guarantee for his Manchester United lineup to face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Manchester United have had a mixed start to their Premier League campaign, winning only two of their first four matches.
However, Erik ten Hag will be looking to build momentum following a comfortable 3-0 win over Southampton last weekend.
Up next is a Carabao Cup tie against Barnsley, followed by matches against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and FC Twente in the Europa League.
With a busy schedule ahead, several fringe players will be eager for game time when United face League One side Barnsley on Tuesday.
Ten Hag provides United guarantee
Ten Hag conducted his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon. He delivered some important team news and also spoke about a number of players.
However, the United boss was less open about the prospects of certain players starting the game. “Tomorrow, you will see what the line-up will be,” he replied.
Despite this, Ten Hag did provide one guarantee for the United side to face their League One counterparts: rotation.
Asked whether the team would be changed ahead of a busy schedule, Ten Hag said there would be and that rotation will be “very important” for the team this season.
“Absolutely,” he responded. “Very important and I think… I hope [that] I have headaches because last year I also had headaches, but there were no players available.
“I have many players available, and we can make a selection from game to game. Definitely, we have to rotate because we have to cover so many games. It’s not only about the starting team. It is a nice headache.”
This will be music to the ears of many supporters who questioned Ten Hag’s rotation in previous seasons.
Young players like Harry Amass and Ethan Wheatley will be eager to play, while fringe players such as Antony and Jonny Evans could also make appearances.
