Erik ten Hag names FOUR key attributes Marcel Sabitzer brings to Man United
Erik ten Hag was impressed by Marcel Sabitzer against Crystal Palace and named four key attributes the midfielder brings to Manchester United.
Sabitzer, 28, was brought in on a deadline day loan deal last month after the club found out about the severity of Christian Eriksen’s ankle injury.
The Bayern Munich midfielder is a much-needed option for The Reds, especially since Casemiro will be missing the club’s next three Premier League games through suspension after receiving a straight red card against Crystal Palace.
Sabitzer came onto the pitch in the closing exchanges at Old Trafford to help 10-men United grind out the three points.
His energy and quality were on show in the short display and the Austrian could’ve even got an assist if it wasn’t for some diabolical from Andre Marriner, who blew for a foul when Sabitzer perfectly pickpocketed a Palace midfielder.
Ten Hag has several important values that his players must have when they play for him. One is that the defence starts from the front and every player needs to help the side out of possession.
The Dutchman believes that Sabitzer offers several important qualities that could be important for the rest of the season.
“He understands football,” said Ten Hag when speaking to MUTV. “You see it straight from the start. You have seen that in the training as well, but yeah, he did quite well.
“He’s really composed on the ball and he knows how to defend so you need a player like that who understands the game and will bring the right spirit.”
Luke Shaw, who set up Marcus Rashford’s goal on Saturday, was also full of praise for the new midfielder.
“He was amazing and he’s not been here long,” the left-back added.
“He’s only been here a couple of days now and he showed his quality in training. I think to come on with 10 men and show that impressive performance in not so long [on the pitch] is good and shows signs to come of what he’s about.”
