Erik ten Hag ‘offered’ immediate management return following Manchester United sacking
Erik ten Hag reportedly has the chance to immediately return to management following his Manchester United sacking last month.
Erik ten Hag was sacked as manager of Manchester United following a series of poor results that left the club 14th in the Premier League table and 21st in the Europa League.
After the decision was announced, the club moved quickly to appoint 39-year-old Sporting CP coach Rúben Amorim as his replacement, joining as the club’s head coach.

However, with Amorim unable to join until mid-November, Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, took charge in the interim, managing four games and stabilising the ship following the Dutch boss’ sacking.
Van Nistelrooy won three games, two against Leicester City and once against PAOK, and earned a draw against Chelsea, but it was confirmed earlier this week that he would step back from the club once Amorim arrived with his coaching staff.
Ten Hag’s new opportunity
Since his sacking, Ten Hag has been spotted multiple times in the Netherlands, watching several football matches, including his former side Ajax, who he watched draw 2-2 with his boyhood club FC Twente last weekend.
However, according to The Mirror, the Dutchman has already been presented with a new opportunity to return to management after Serie A side AS Roma dismissed their boss, Ivan Juric, after just two months in charge.
Ten Hag was of serious interest to the Roman club in 2019. He guided his side to within a whisker of the Champions League final, and the manager was seen as the best possible replacement for Claudio Ranieri at the time.
However, De Telegraaf reported at the time that the move was not possible as Ajax were unhappy with Roma due to their previous negotiations surrounding Hakim Ziyech and denied the Italian side the chance to talk to Ten Hag.
However, with Ten Hag currently out of employment and Roma needing a new manager, the Mirror report suggests that their interest may well be reignited.
