Manchester United ‘make contact’ to sign Bundesliga star on free contract in 2025, he fits into Ruben Amorim’s plans
Manchester United are beginning to look ahead to future transfer windows and have ‘made contact’ to sign a Bundesliga star on a free contract next summer.
Ruben Amorim started his role as head coach of Manchester United this week and he has a big job on his hands at Old Trafford.
The 39-year-old will start preparing how he will set up his team, with the first game coming in around two weeks against Ipswich Town.
It is expected that Amorim uses his 3-4-3 system and some players could really suit the new set-up under the Portuguese boss.
However, others may not fit into Amorim’s plans and he will likely need additions in the upcoming transfer windows before we truly see how far he can take the team forward.
United make contact for Tah
United chiefs have already started preparing for the upcoming transfer windows after signing five first-team players in the summer just gone.
According to Fichajes, the Reds have made contact with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah over a potential summer deal.
Tah’s contract at the German club runs out in June 2025, which means he would be free to discuss pre-contract terms with United from January onwards.
It was added that United and Barcelona are the two clubs who have displayed the most interest in the 28-year-old so far, who will not be signing new terms at Leverkusen.
United could be losing up to three centre-backs in the summer window, with the futures of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans uncertain.
Tah could suit Amorim’s style
Tah has been a mainstay in Leverkusen’s side since his move to the club in 2015 and started 30 of their 34 Bundesliga fixtures during their unbeaten title-winning campaign last term.
Under Xavi Alonso, the German defender has regularly played in a back three, usually on the left side, and excelled.
Of course, with Amorim likely to implement his own back three formation, he will want more defenders who are comfortable with the shape and defensive responsibilities.
With other areas also needing to be addressed, signing the 28-year-old on a free contract could be a stroke of genius from United next summer.
