Erik ten Hag reveals two things he expects from Mason Mount vs Crystal Palace
Erik ten Hag has confirmed what he expects to see from Mason Mount, as the Englishman returns to the Manchester United starting eleven for the first time in several months.
With only four Premier League games left, Manchester United must secure their spot in the Europa League for next season. Tottenham Hotspur sits six points ahead in fifth place, while Newcastle United is just one point behind in seventh.
Erik ten Hag‘s team, currently sixth in the Premier League, has struggled for consistency this season. Without positive results this month, they risk dropping even lower in the table.
Facing Crystal Palace, Ten Hag has decided to select a midfield three of Kobbie Mainoo, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount, with Bruno Fernandes injured and Casemiro otherwise occupied in defence.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Ten Hag confirmed that after several substitute appearances, he believes Mount is ready to start for the Red Devils again.
“He has been in the squad now for a couple of weeks,” Ten Hag told United’s media team. “Some substitute [appearances] coming on. Some good weeks of training. So, I think he’s ready to play.
“He’s desperate to play, you can see it. He can bring a lot of energy, he will bring the quality into the midfield. I’m really looking forward to seeing that midfield with Kobbie [Mainoo], Christian [Eriksen] and Mason.
“They have to bring the levels to control the midfield, and that’s what is most important to them.”
Mount’s appearance in the Manchester United starting eleven marks just the fifth time the Englishman has locked down his position since signing for the club in July of last year.
