Erik ten Hag has explained the four key reasons behind Marcus Rashford’s resurgence at Manchester United this season.

Rashford, 26, secured both the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year at United’s end-of-season awards ceremony on Monday evening.

Thirty goals – with one game remaining – from Rashford this term was key in the club returning to the Champions League through their third-place Premier League finish.

Rashford also scored in every round of the Carabao Cup – including in the final against Newcastle – as The Reds smelt the taste of silverware for the first time in six years.

A tremendous campaign from the Englishman makes his tragic season last term easy to forget. The player who scored just five goals and lost any form of confidence is unrecognisable to the marksman we see now.

But how has he done it?

Rashford’s rejuvenation at Old Trafford can be explained through four key reasons, according to the United boss.

Ten Hag saw a diamond in the rough when he joined the club last year and has made Rashford sparkle again through various different techniques.

“So, first of all, I make a culture where he can perform,” began Ten Hag, talking to The Times.

“Then I get him motivated and then construct a way of play where he can do it. And fitness, as well, don’t forget that part. When those four aspects are there Marcus Rashford will score.”

Despite being most notable for his performances from the left over his career so far, Rashford has played across the frontline this term, particularly as a centre forward.

“He can play as a centre forward, can play from the left, can play from the right,” added the United boss. “When you see his stats, he is scoring everywhere but he feels more comfortable as a centre forward or from the left.”
