David Beckham tells Sir Jim Ratcliffe his “most important” task at Manchester United, it is extremely simple
David Beckham has told Sir Jim Ratcliffe his “most important” task at Manchester United in an interview this week.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group took charge at Manchester United earlier this year and have made major changes at Old Trafford.
The British billionaire has brought together a new leadership group which includes Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada.
Plans for a new stadium are also underway, while many staff cuts have also controversially occurred.
Beckham tells Sir Jim Ratcliffe his most important United task
David Beckham has spoken about the club’s new co-owner and believes that his most important task is not as major as others would think.
The former United winger instead states that Ratcliffe must show the supporters of the club that he “cares” following a fractured relationship with the Glazer owners since they took charge.
“I really like Jim,” Beckham said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast. “I’ve met him a few times over the years with a few mutual friends and I think that he’s a fan and obviously he’s a great businessman as well. One of the best and one of the biggest.
“But I think most importantly, the fans see that he cares, and I think that’s a big part of it.
“Obviously the fans had lost faith with the leadership over the years and he really cares about what he wants to do and what he wants to create.
“So, hopefully, things will change but these things take time.
“I think we have been quite patient as United fans over the years, but we want those good old days back. The sooner the better.”
