Dante Plunkett has confirmed his move from Aston Villa to Manchester United’s academy following a spell on trial with the Old Trafford club.

United’s under-18s are hoping to complete a historic treble after winning the league and Premier League Cup already.

Nick Cox, the academy director, and others have worked hard to help turn the academy at Carrington around. It was in a dire state no more than eight years ago.

Now, we are seeing the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo thriving in the first team.

There is also a lot of good work being placed in the system and equally, United are again attracting some of the best talent in England.

Harry Amass signed for the club last summer after making the Watford first-team bench at 15. He is now a regular in Erik ten Hag’s first team and is patiently waiting for his chance.

Meanwhile, young fullback Dante Plunkett has confirmed that he will be joining United after spending time at Villa’s academy.

The defender had joined the Reds on trial back in February and was given a start for the Under-18s in their penultimate league fixture against Sunderland.

Plunkett was present for United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, and after the game, he uploaded confirmation of his move onto Instagram.

He posted an image of him holding up a United home shirt with his name on the back in front of the iconic Trinity statue at Old Trafford of Denis Law, Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best.

“Onto bigger things!” he wrote.

With Amass likely to be moved up to the Under-21s and first-team for good next season, Plunkett will have opportunities to impress in the defence of the Under-18s.
