Crystal Palace boss OIiver Glasner rules out key duo for Manchester United clash
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has ruled out a key duo for the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester United.
The Reds head to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Saturday evening, aiming to build on their recent momentum.
Erik ten Hag’s team secured consecutive wins, defeating Southampton 3-0 and Barnsley 7-0, following a mixed start to the Premier League season.
However, Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace will offer a tougher test. Despite not securing a league win yet this season, they remain a dangerous side.
Last season, United struggled against the South London-based side, suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat away from home.
Glasner rules out Palace duo
Ahead of the game, Glasner spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference, where he namedropped two United dangermen.
Asked about the current injury situation in Palace’s squad, the Austrian manager confirmed that two important players will be absent for the United game.
New loan signing Trevoh Chalobah joined the club from Chelsea late in the transfer window but is yet to make his debut for Palace–with Glaser also ruling him out of Saturday’s game.
“He’s progressing, but he’s not available tomorrow. We expect him back with the team next week,” Glasner said.
Meanwhile, key Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure will be out of action for a number of weeks after suffering injury last weekend against Leicester City.
“Unfortunately, Cheick Doucoure has some [injury] to do with the tendon on the toe. We will miss him for several weeks,’ Glasner added.
“The tendon has to heal, so it’s a little bit of a bad situation for him, but he will be back in a few weeks. Of course, he was sad, but he had a lot pain during the [Leicester] game and after the game.
“Now we, and him as well, are pleased that it’s not so serious because it was so painful that there was a worry it was a serious injury. It’s not. He was out for eight months, so several weeks is a short period. He’s already working for his comeback.”
The game on Saturday kicks off at 17:30 BST and will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.
