“Contract terminated” – Man United flop joins Erik ten Hag’s five-man list after exiting new club
Eric Bailly has had his contract at Besiktas terminated just four months after leaving Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
Bailly, 29, left Old Trafford on a free transfer after spending the final year of his contract on loan at French club Marseille.
He signed for Turkish side Besiktas but was caught in a bust-up with teammate Tayfur Bingol midway through their away league clash at Antalyaspor, where the visitors suffered a 3-2 defeat.
Despite Bailly stating that the altercation was due to ‘competitive tension’, he was replaced at half-time and only played two more games for the club before his dismissal.
Amid this difficult time, it was claimed by the former United defender that he had become the victim of a curse against him after an agent demanded money that he was allegedly owed after helping Bailly with his move to the Turkish club.
After his misfortunes, Bailly is thought to have received another message which read: “I am happy to see what my curse is doing to you. You are not a man. You are a big Mickey Mouse,” according to the Daily Mail.
Another message included: “I will not let you f*** me in my own country. You will see what happens after I open a fraud case against you.”
Bailly’s agent and uncle has explained that the individual is sending threats and blackmail to the player and that there was no agreement with the agent in relation to his transfer.
At the beginning of December, Bailly was one of five players who were exiled from the Besiktas first team due to team compatibility and poor performances.
His contract being ripped up leaves Bailly without a club ahead of the January transfer window as he makes up a five-man list of players to leave under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford to be without a club currently.
Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard exited the club on free transfers during Ten Hag’s first summer. Lingard is still without a club after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, and whilst Pogba is at Juventus, his long-term doping ban is expected to play a part in his future.
Meanwhile, David de Gea remains without a team following his exit last summer. He has been linked to many different clubs and could make a return to football next month.
Phil Jones is also not playing football currently, he left Old Trafford in the summer and has been doing his coaching badges, working with the club’s youth sides as he deliberates the next move in his career.
