Club director confirms target ‘deserves’ Manchester United move, it’s a classy gesture
A club director has confirmed that one Manchester United target ‘deserves’ his move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Reds are planning to make major changes this summer after INEOS took charge of the club earlier this year.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team has brought in a solid structure behind the scenes, including Omar Berrada as CEO, Dan Ashworth as sporting director and Jason Wilcox as technical director.
No additions have been confirmed on the pitch yet, but two important signings among Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff are expected in the coming days.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake will be joining Ten Hag’s coaching unit to freshen things up at Carrington.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that formal documents are being prepared for both men to join the club ahead of pre-season.
Hake, 52, is currently the head coach at Eredivisie club Go Ahead Eagles and helped them to their best league finish in the Dutch top flight last term.
However, despite this, Go Ahead technical director Paul Bosvelt has delivered a classy gesture and explained that the club will not stand in their manager’s way.
“It has been going on for a week and a half now, and we would like some clarity,” Bosvelt told Voetbal International.
“This is a step that we do not want to take away from Rene. He deserves it very much.”
According to Voetbal Primeur, Bosvelt also confirmed that Hake has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for ‘a few hundred thousand’.
Hake worked with Ten Hag closely at FC Utrecht. It is unknown whether current assistant coach Mitchell van der Gaag will remain at Old Trafford.
