Casemiro suffers Manchester United ‘likely’ contract blow as fresh deal terms outlined

Casemiro has suffered a ‘likely’ contract blow, as the fresh deal terms have been stated between the Brazilian and Manchester United.

Casemiro has been key to the recent success of Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim starting him in all five games of United’s unbeaten streak.

The 33-year-old has done well to pick up his form, as he has managed to keep both Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte out of the starting XI for the majority of the season so far.

During this period, the Brazilian midfielder managed to pick up two goals and an assist, whilst also providing some solidity in front of the United back-line.

Despite his recent form, it is still up in the air as to whether United’s midfielder will stay at the club past the summer, with him currently in the last year of his contract.

United exploring options

As reported by journalist Ben Jacobs via The United Stand, United are exploring options for Casemiro’s contract, which could see them potentially offer a one-year contract with the option to extend it for a further season, akin to the deal Jonny Evans was given in 2023.

The post states that the prevailing view among those within the club is for Casemiro to remain beyond this summer. However, he would need to agree to a new contract on significantly reduced terms compared to his current high wages.

But, it’s also stressed that without an agreement on a lower salary, both the club and the player are “likely” to part ways.

Clearly, the Red Devils are adamant about keeping high salaries off their wage bill, and they are not willing to make an exception for the former Real Madrid man.

United’s midfield future is key

With it being a definite possibility that Casemiro parts ways with United next summer, this will leave a huge void that the club will need to fix.

It is already a priority for the club that they strengthen their midfield over the next couple of transfer windows, but with their decorated Brazilian potentially heading for the exit, the importance of this will only be reinforced.

In the absence of Casemiro, it can be expected that Mainoo’s role at the club will improve, but this doesn’t mean the Reds won’t also try to buy an additional midfielder.

United have been linked with the likes of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, and, most recently, Elliot Anderson, although there has been nothing concrete as of late.
