Casemiro has addressed his current role at Manchester United after the club confirmed their first summer transfer window move.

The Reds won the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, ending the 2023/24 campaign on a high.

Casemiro was not in the matchday squad. United sources confirmed that the Brazilian was injured in the pre-match warmup and was replaced on the bench by Willy Kambwala.

After the game, the Brazilian midfielder skipped the afterparty attended by the team and jetted off on vacation with his family. It seems likely that he will leave this summer.

Recent reports have linked the former Real Madrid star to Saudi Arabian clubs, and now Relevo had added that the midfielder has acknowledged on several occasions to those closest to him that his future is linked to the Saudi Pro League.

The report clarified that Casemiro will wait to find out how important he will be in United’s plans, as he is not entirely happy with his current role, and then determine his future.

Meanwhile, United have confirmed their first summer sale as Alvaro Fernandez makes his move to Benfica permanent after going to the Portuguese giants on loan for the second half of last season.

Fernandez did not make enough appearances to trigger the obligation to buy, however, have still decided to activate their option to buy the left-back for a package of £7.7 million.

The Portuguese club will pay an initial fee of £5.1 million with a further £2.6 million in add-ons. United also have a high percentage sell-on clause and buyback option in the contract.

Fernandez joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 as a highly-rated youngster.

The defender never made his first-team debut but won the U21s Player of the Year in 2021/22 and succeded on loan at Preston North End in the following campaign.
