Bryan Mbeumo reveals unique skill he will use at Manchester United, “Never heard that before…”

Bryan Mbeumo has revealed one unique skill he uses in front of goal and it could help Manchester United with their goalscoring problem.

Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United earlier this month after a drawn-out transfer saga between the Red Devils and Brentford.

His signing was made in time for the beginning of the US pre-season tour and Ruben Amorim is delighted to have the 25-year-old in his ranks.

While he has not yet made his debut, the forward has been able to work hard on the training pitch and his excellent finishing ability has been on show.

Mbeumo scored 20 times in the Premier League last season and will be hoping to continue that form into the new campaign at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo reveals unique skill he will use at United

Mbeumo has appeared in a recent YouTube video on Jeremy Lynch’s channel alongside Manu Koné and Jean-Clair Todibo where they took part in some finishing drills.

Towards the end of the video, Lynch set up a scenario where Mbeumo was attacking Todibo inside the box and asked both players how they would approach the situation.

After the West Ham defender explained how he would try to show Mbeumo towards the line onto his weaker left foot, Mbeumo was asked about what kind of finish he would attempt to get off.

“For me in this position, as he said, if I get lucky I can shoot between his legs but in this position the most possibility for me to score a goal is like, I try to hit the face of the keeper,” the United forward explained.

“Nah, it’s actually true, because he has less time to [react], it’s harder for him to do this [lift his arms close to his face].”

“I’ve never heard that before,” Lynch responded.

Mbeumo has strong attention to detail

Mbeumo’s attention to detail is something that not many footballers have and it is clear to see that he looks for small details to help in his game, such as this skill or finishing technique.

The United forward then spoke more about shooting through the legs of the defender – something that Ole Gunnar Solskjær was well known for – and he explained how he assesses what kind of defender he is facing before shooting like this.

“Yeah, it depends on the defender, some defender are like throwing themselves like this [wide steps], some defenders just stay like this [narrow steps],” Mbeumo added.

“So it’s like instinct, you need to know your opponent as well – for himself, if he tackles or if he stays still.”

United fans will be hoping that the 25-year-old can bring these kind of finishes to the Theatre of Dreams next season. It would also be nice to see United’s younger forwards learning from this.

Mbeumo has not been a lethal finisher throughout his entire career but it is clearly something that he has worked tirelessly on improving in recent years.
