Manchester United are interested in OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo to replace Harry Maguire.

Maguire, 30, is closing in on a move to West Ham, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming that the deal is yet to be complete as United want to nail down a replacement for the England international.

There are multiple names on the list that could come into the Old Trafford backline, with Todibo being one of them.

It has also been reported by Romano that United scouts were in attendance to watch OGC Nice’s opening Ligue 1 fixture against Lille on Friday evening.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, although afterwards Jean-Pierre Rivère, the French club’s chairman, addressed the elephant in the room.

When asked about the centre-back’s future, Rivère stated his intention to keep the talented 23-year-old despite various interest around the continent, however couldn’t rule out a move this summer.

“Todibo? Today, we hope to keep him,” he said, as quoted by Made In Foot. “We know that he has touches with different European clubs, but our intention is to keep him. Afterwards, as long as the transfer window is not over, nothing can be said with certainty.”

Edmond Tapsoba and Benjamin Pavard are also on the list as potential Maguire replacements at United.

The former United captain will be leaving after four years at Old Trafford, where he made 175 appearances for the club.

Whilst Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martinez are the starting pair for Erik ten Hag right now; the Frenchman has suffered injury troubles during his career and has entered his thirties this year.

So being able to sign a worthy understudy for the former Real Madrid man would be a great bit of business for United to go alongside their three signings so far this summer.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all bolstered different positions on the pitch and will hope to have positive impacts as United look to start the season strongly.

They face up against Wolves at home for their opening Premier League fixture on Monday evening.
