Bryan Mbeumo breaks silence as Thomas Frank attempts transfer hijack, Man Utd remain confident

Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as his former manager Thomas Frank attempts to convince him of a move to North London.

Manchester United secured the signing of Matheus Cunha on the opening day of the transfer window and quickly moved their attention to Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old responded positively, making it clear to other suitors like Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur that he wanted to move to Old Trafford.

An opening bid which reached £55 million was swiftly rejected by Brentford and it has been claimed that the Reds have prepared another offer worth more than £60 million for the player.

However, there has been no indication that a new second bid has been submitted and now it is being reported that Spurs want to try and hijack the deal.

With Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank making the switch to North London, they are hoping to convince the player of the move.

Despite this reported pressure, United are still said to be confident of securing a deal for Mbeumo, who also still wants to move to Old Trafford.

Still, the fact that Frank was announced as Spurs boss has changed things slightly as it is clear the pair had a great relationship at the Gtech Community Stadium.

That was even clear on Friday, when Mbeumo reacted to the news that Frank was leaving Brentford on his social media accounts.

Mbeumo uploaded a story on his Instagram page which can be viewed below, where he re-shared the thank you post Brentford posted for the departing manager and included two praying emojis.

It is no secret that Mbeumo has a lot of appreciation for Frank – the manager who brought him into the Premier League and allowed him to shine.

United don’t want to be pushed around

These developments have gotten a lot of United fans worried but it does feel like an attempt to push the Reds into matching Brentford’s demands.

That isn’t to say Spurs aren’t interested – they clearly are – but they are only in initial talks and have already been told about the player’s preference.

Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada do not want to be pushed around this summer and it is claimed they will walk away from deals if they need to.

But this still doesn’t feel like a situation where United will walk – especially without submitting that long-awaited second bid and seeing what the response is.

Mbeumo would be a huge signing for the club, and while you don’t want to be messed around, you also don’t want to let such a good player slip through your grasp.
