Bayern Munich copy Barcelona in Bruno Fernandes approach despite player statement
Bayern Munich has seemingly copied Barcelona as they take their first steps in an attempt to sign Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United this summer.
There is little doubt that Bruno Fernandes is one of Manchester United‘s most important players in Erik ten Hag‘s current squad and maybe their most valuable.
Alongside young talents such as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, Fernandes is completely indispensable at Old Trafford, but rumours about his future have been circling in the last month.

A fresh report from O Jogo claims that Bayern Munich are already talking with Bruno Fernandes’ agent. Barcelona has also expressed a deep interest in the United captain and could soon open a negotiation route.
Further to this, according to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, a source close to the player has confirmed that both Bayern and Barcelona have contacted him.
It is claimed that both clubs enquired about the conditions of a transfer and may soon make concrete moves.
It is important to note that a report last month claimed that Barcelona were taking their first steps to see if a transfer for Fernandes was possible, and these latest reports indicate that Bayern have now copied Barcelona’s initial move by making contact as their first step.
This is, of course, contradictory to the statement Fernandes made at the end of May explaining his desire to stay at United as long as they continue to compete for trophies.
“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream,” he stated ahead of United’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve.
“I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here.”
