Bruno Fernandes receives ‘significant transfer interest’ as Man United make intentions clear
Bruno Fernandes has received ‘significant interest’ from one major European club this week despite Manchester United making their intentions clear.
Fernandes, 29, led United to FA Cup glory last month after an underwhelming campaign in the Premier League and Champions League.
With 15 goals and 13 assists across the season, the Portuguese midfielder was one of Erik ten Hag’s best and most consistent players.
Before the Wembley final against Manchester City, the United no.8 explained to fans that he wanted to stay at Old Trafford but warned INEOS that they must match his own ambition.
“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream,” he told the Players’ Tribune.
“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing.”
According to David Ornstein, United met with the club captain and his agents recently to seek clarity on his situation. They “absolutely” want him to stay – and made that clear to him during discussions.
Despite this, StrettyNews reports that Bayern Munich are showing significant interest in Fernandes ahead of the summer window.
This follows on from information from Fabrizio Romano on Friday, which suggested that Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, met with several top European clubs last week.
Of course, United’s stance remains clear, and it seems unlikely that Fernandes will depart this summer. However, it could serve as an important reminder for INEOS to make sure they make positive moves this summer.
