Attention turns back to the Premier League this Thursday after Erik ten Hag’s men booked their place in the FA Cup final with victory over Brighton at the weekend.

Manchester United secured their place in their second final of the season last Sunday but it wasn’t all good news with Bruno Fernandes leaving the pitch injured and later seen on crutches and sporting a protective boot.

The Reds went the full distance against Brighton with the match being decided in the lottery of a penalty shoot-out. The likes of Casemiro and the returning Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw played the full 120 minutes so rotation may play a part in Ten Hag’s thinking.

Three points against Spurs will all but secure Champions League football for next season. A win would see United extend the gap to 8 points from the resurgent Aston Villa in fifth place and 9 clear of Tottenham with games in hand over both. Here is the team news ahead of a crucial fixture in the race for Champions League football.

Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes is a doubt for Thursday’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Ten Hag stating in his press conference “We have to wait. He is obviously a question mark. He had a big kick in the first half but he played the game, over 90 minutes, and even in extra-time. But then he went off. We’ve all seen. He’s not excluded for tomorrow but he is a question mark.”

With Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez already missing from the spine of Ten Hag’s team, the United boss will be sweating on the fitness of his stand-in captain.

Alejandro Garnacho will remain sidelined but there is positive news on his fitness with Ten Hag confirming that he is back training on the pitch.

Harry Maguire will once again be available after serving his suspension against Brighton although many will feel Ten Hag should take a ‘if it’s not broken, don’t fix it’ approach after the backline of Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw and Dalot impressed at the weekend.

Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek remain out.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will be led out by Ryan Mason (again) after Cristian Stellini was sacked earlier this week after a disastrous display against Newcastle United which saw his team 5-0 down in just 21 minutes.

Rodrigo Bentancur remains sidelined after picking up a season-ending injury in February but Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet are back in training and were unused substitutes against Newcastle. There is a minor doubt over Hugo Lloris who was forced off on Sunday. Ryan Mason said of the trio of Davies, Lenglet and Lloris “We have our last training session this afternoon before the game tomorrow, so we’ll reassess all of them and understand if they’re fit enough to play”

Emerson Royal is nearing return but Thursday’s game will come too soon for the Brazilian. Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon are also out. Lucas Moura is available again after suspension.
