Atlético Madrid decision could offer Erik ten Hag his Manchester United striker solution
Atlético Madrid’s decision surrounding Álvaro Morata could give Erik ten Hag exactly what he needs at Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag is said to be looking for a new striker this summer, with the Manchester United manager searching for goals.
Marcus Rashford was the club’s top scorer last season with 30 goals, and Bruno Fernandes was next highest on a comparatively small 14.
Despite trying, none of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wout Weghorst, or Anthony Martial could secure the striker position last season. Ten Hag needs a new striker.
And on the subject of strikers, Atlético Madrid are looking to sell theirs.
This is according to reliable Spanish journalist Metteo Moretto, the club wants just over £17 million for Spanish gunman Álvaro Morata.
AC Milan are said to want him, but the problem is his salary. – Saudi Arabian club Al Etiffaq could also come with a “mega” offer.
Morata’s current release clause is around €21m, but Atleti are asking for €17m.
As a player who has much experience across the European game, the cut price that Atleti are asking for could help Erik ten Hag sign a striker to score goals at a price he can afford.
The club are said to be very restricted on their budget this summer and need to find ways of cutting costs in order to sign players in all their target positions.
