Manchester United ‘keeping options open’ for second signing with Erik ten Hag interested in two midfielders
Manchester United are said to be “keeping their options open” for a second midfield signing this summer as Erik ten Hag secures Mason Mount from Chelsea.
This is according to Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News, who explains that Manchester United have not ruled out signing a second midfielder under Erik ten Hag this summer.
This comes as a result of the uncertainty of several midfield players at the club.
The club are said to be open to selling 30-year-old Fred and are hoping to secure £15 million for the player, with Fulham showing interest.
Donny van de Beek is also for sale, with the club open to offers for Scott McTominay at the right price – previous reports have explained that Newcastle hold an interest.
With Mason Mount signing on a five-year contract after completing his medical on Monday afternoon, the club are considering continuing to build their midfield.
Sofyan Amrabat is one player who has been linked on many occasions and has previously worked with Ten Hag – Amrabat’s brother recently explained that Ten Hag admires the player.
United are also monitoring Romeo Lavia, alongside a host of other clubs, after Southampton were relegated from the Premier League.
