Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal have a big injury doubt as they travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Following several disappointing performances in the Premier League, including a 1-1 draw with Burnley and a humbling 4-0 loss against Crystal Palace, Manchester United are redirecting their focus to Old Trafford.

Their upcoming clash sees them hosting Arsenal on home turf as Mikel Arteta’s side finds itself deeply immersed in a gripping title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

While Liverpool’s form has waned since their FA Cup defeat to United in March, Arsenal and City have been trading blows throughout the remaining months of the season, separated by a mere point.

However, it’s important to note that City have a game in hand, facing Fulham on Saturday, a full 28 hours before kick-off at Old Trafford. Both teams are hungry for a win, with United also eyeing European football qualification for the next season.

Arteta’s injury news

Arsenal’s injury record this season has been very impressive, with Arteta having almost his whole XI available for large portions of the season, which has allowed the side to be very consistent with both their performances and selections.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Mikel Arteta confirmed that while Takehiro Tomiyasu is a doubt after missing training this week, there is also a question mark over Bukayo Saka, which would be a major miss for Arsenal.

“A few doubts that tomorrow we can resolve with another training session, so we’ll have to see,” he said. When pressed as to who those doubts were, Arteta expanded: “A few doubts over Tomi and Saka, yes.”

Beyond that, Arsenal’s team is looking healthy. Jurrien Timber continues to work his way back from a cruciate ligament injury, while Reiss Nelson has been missing from their last two squads.
