Erik ten Hag has admitted the one Arsenal player he would like to see at Manchester United ahead of the Premier League clash this weekend.

After a string of disappointing showings in the Premier League, including a 1-1 stalemate with Burnley and a crushing 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, Manchester United are turning their focus back to Old Trafford.

Their next challenge comes as they prepare to host Arsenal on their home turf, with Mikel Arteta’s squad deeply entrenched in a thrilling title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

While Liverpool’s form has dipped since their FA Cup defeat to United in March, Arsenal and City have been locked in a tight battle throughout the remaining months of the season, separated by just a single point.

Yet, it’s worth noting that City have a match in hand. They face Fulham on Saturday, a full 28 hours before the showdown at Old Trafford. Both teams are eager for victory, with United also vying for European football qualification next season.

Ten Hag’s dream Arsenal player

During the last few seasons, United have been crying out for a top-quality central midfielder who can play deep and progress play, with Declan Rice being touted as one player who would fit at Old Trafford.

Rice, of course, instead completed a £105 million move from West Ham to Arsenal in the 2023 summer transfer window and has quickly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the league.

Ten Hag, speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, explained how he feels Rice would have faired at Old Trafford. “He’s a very good player. He would absolutely have fitted here,” he admitted.

United and Arsenal will face off at 16:30 BST on Sunday, 12 May.
