Anthony Martial injury latest: Player not present at Manchester United training
Anthony Martial did not train on Thursday after the striker missed out on Manchester United’s draw against Crystal Palace.
Anthony Martial had to be withdrawn from the pitch at half time during Manchester United‘s thrilling win against Manchester City at Old Trafford last weekend, with Erik ten Hag saying it was due to injury precaution.
The striker only played in the fixture due to passing a last-minute fitness test on the morning of the game, with Erik ten Hag confirming that it was never in the plans for Martial to play the full 90 minutes.

“I hope to avoid him getting injured but he was complaining and that’s why he didn’t train in the week (before facing Man City),” Ten Hag explained after last weekend’s win. “We decided and he decided as well (that he was fit enough to start).”
Wout Weghorst made his United debut on Wednesday evening in replacement of the injured French striker, and it has now been confirmed that he did not train on Thursday either, according to Paul Hurst of The Times.
With a crucial clash against the Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday, Martial could be a huge miss for Erik ten Hag – the French striker has put in some wonderful performances against them over the years.
If Martial is not deemed fit to play, Weghorst will no doubt make his second appearance for the club.
“He has the profile of the nine and I think he did quite well,” Ten Hag said on Weghorst on Wednesday. “He was a link-up player and he make a great run for the first goal – the front post run. He took two players out (which is) what makes Bruno (Fernandes) free (for United’s goal).”
